Mikel Arteta has revealed that Arsenal are now in talks to tie down Ben White to a new long-term deal at the Emirates.
Arsenal are looking better and better every week this season and are once again firmly in the title race.
Such a talented and deep squad has left The Gunners in a position where they can rotate and still field an excellent team.
In order for this to be the case though, it is required to keep a lot of players happy. One of these, who is key to the squad is Ben White who is a regular with Jurrien Timber out injured.
Now it seems that White is due for a new contract and Mikel Arteta has shared an update on this in a recent interview.

Arteta on White contract
Following on from an unhappy Wednesday for White, Arteta will have cheered him up as it was revealed that contract talks are being worked on.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of this weekend which was quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Arteta said: “We are always trying to keep the squad in a healthy position in any way, and the club and Edu especially are working on that”.
Romano then shared the additional details that both parties are optimistic about a deal being reached.
“Negotiations are advancing, Arsenal and player side are both optimistic to get it done soon.”
How much is Ben White currently on at Arsenal?
Ben White was signed for £50 million from Brighton back in 2021 and instantly became a starter and an England regular.
He currently earns £120k-per-week and has a contract which runs until 2026 so three years left.
A new contract therefore won’t be absolutely top priority right now for Arsenal, and is likely to see White receive a substantial wage increase.
Tying him down to a new deal is smart, and probably sees White who is now 25, at Arsenal for his prime years.
