Arsenal’s decision to sign Raya back in 2023 was heavily scrutinised at the time, but Arteta’s move has now paid off significantly.

Ahead of the final three matches, the Spanish coach has been speaking about his goalkeeper and has been key for the team this season.

Mikel Arteta believes that what David Raya has done for Arsenal with many of his saves over recent years has been ‘incredible’.

The Arsenal boss has also hailed the goalkeeper’s attitude and willingness to improve, which has helped him reach the very top level.

Speaking about Raya’s rise, Arteta told Hayters TV: “A player with that tremendous personality to fulfil the role that is demanded, then obviously the quality that he has, but the willingness that he has every single day to learn and to work.

“His work ethic, his mentality, his approach to every training session is outstanding, it’s phenomenal. What David has done for us in the last few years is incredible.”

Arteta also spoke about some of the impressive saves that Raya has pulled off this season, having been shown a highlight reel by his kids.

Arteta added: “My kids showed it to me the other day, and with a close camera, because normally we look with a wide angle, and it is different, but with a close camera, especially the moments that he has produced are incredible, so it’s a lot of work from a lot of people and big credit to them and mine, especially to David.

“Now we have the three most important ones, so hopefully we don’t have to see any of those because that would mean that we do see better a little bit earlier.”

Raya could win the Premier League Player of the Season award, and if he were to do so, it would be very much deserved given the campaign he has enjoyed.
