Mikel Arteta says Arsenal lack goals and options
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wolves v Arsenal, Arteta was asked once again about the club’s plans to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Arteta stated: “Have I ever said no to a striker? We lost two very important players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus so we lack goals, we lack people, we lack options. It is clear.”
The Spaniard was then asked about the possibility of the club failing to land a forward this window and Arteta said that there were many factors that could cause that scenario.
He stated: “That’s an option. It depends on the market and many other factors.” Arteta did go on to state the club are ‘actively looking’ for the right player to bring in.
Arteta not thinking about terminating Raheem Sterling or Neto loan deals
With the possibility of a domestic loan currently out of the question for Arsenal given that they already have two players on a loan deal in Raheem Sterling and Neto, Arteta was asked about whether the club are willing to terminate either deal.
In response to the question of terminating Sterling or Neto’s loan deal, Arteta stated: “We’re not thinking about that.”

Sterling was criticised by fans for his performance against Dinamo Zagreb and has struggled to make an impact since his arrival from Chelsea. Neto has also struggled for regular minutes at the Gunners.
Time is running out for Arsenal to make a move in the transfer market but Arteta has made it very clear that he wants and needs some help in forward areas.
