Arsenal have seen another Premier League season come and go, with Mikel Arteta looking for the lessons he can take from a tough year.

The Gunners have been hit by some hard luck, with injuries and suspensions biting them at important moments.

Beyond that, goals have been a clear problem for Arsenal, with a lack of scorers within the squad over the course of the season.

It has all culminated in Arsenal finishing as runners-up in the Premier League for a third consecutive season.

Their problems have been underlined by one record, which has stood for over 100 years, that the hierarchy needs to fix.

Arsenal set an unwanted record with no player scoring more than ten goals in the Premier League

Arsenal’s struggles for goals in the Premier League are no mystery, with it being clear that the side has been missing something extra in the final third.

Be it due to injuries or the lack of a clinical edge, the inability to score regularly has been shown in the statistics.

No Arsenal player managed to hit ten goals in the Premier League this season, a record that shows how tough the team have found it across the board.

It’s the first time that the Gunners have failed to have a player reach double figures in a league campaign since the 1923/24 season.

There is an argument that injuries stopped the likes of Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka hitting that figure, but that wasn’t the case.

Instead, it’s a problem that Andrea Berta must now fix in the transfer window.

Andrea Berta must give Mikel Arteta more firepower in the transfer market

The transfer window opens soon, and for Andrea Berta, it will be an important few weeks ahead in the market.

Mikel Arteta wasn’t backed with a new striker in January, and the end result was the season fizzling out.

If Arsenal can back the manager with another striker and a winger, then there is a good chance of some improvement in front of goal.

There will need to be some luck, with injuries hitting hard over the past season, but the Gunners can get that bit closer to winning the league with some more firepower.
