Former Chelsea defender Scott Minto has urged Arsenal not to give up on one summer transfer target.
Arsenal have been linked with many strikers this summer, as Mikel Arteta is in search of a new goalscorer.
Arsenal are pushing to sign Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have also been credited with an interest in Dominic Solanke, who is available due to a release clause in his contract. However, Tottenham Hotspur may be plotting to beat Arsenal to the Bournemouth man.
Arsenal and Tottenham share a fierce rivalry, which could be about to spill over into the transfer window. Not only are Spurs eyeing up Solanke, but they are also interested in another of Arteta’s targets, Ivan Toney, as reported by Sky Sports.
Arsenal have been linked with Toney for many months, and is it easy to see why Arteta may be keen to bring the Brentford man to the Emirates Stadium. The 28-year-old has proven that he can shine and be prolific in the Premier League before, he offers physicality and intelligent movement up front, and is a clinical finisher.

Arsenal told why they must sign Ivan Toney
Scott Minto has now told the Gunners why they must sign Toney this summer, before Spurs beat them to his signature.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit said: “I mentioned about that fourth place is for grabs and Spurs will be absolutely going for that. I think Ivan Toney would get them there, and I think Ivan Toney would win Arsenal the title.”
Arsenal came desperately close to securing their first Premier League title since 2004 last season, as the race between the North London club and Manchester City for the crown went right down to the wire.
Having a more efficient striker to call upon throughout the campaign may have made the difference for Arteta’s side, and seen them win the league. Clearly, the Spanish coach feels that his side could use some more firepower.
Is Toney the striker Arsenal need?
Toney already has Premier League experience, which Arteta often covets in his transfer targets. However, the England star struggled to produce his best form after returning from a lengthy ban last season.
Whilst Toney is open to a move this summer, and is undeniably an excellent player, there may well be better options on the market, with a greater scope to improve further.
