Instead of Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal could now chase a deal for one Premier League striker, but may face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker in this summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta is clearly convinced that, despite having racked up 91 Premier League goals last season, his squad requires more firepower.
Certainly, neither of his two current first choice options to lead the line, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, are the most prolific of centre-forwards. Arsenal have been told that signing a striker should be their top priority this summer.
In order to address this issue, Arsenal have already tried to sign Benjamin Sesko. However, the Slovenian instead opted to stay with RB Leipzig, rather than make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Since then, Arsenal have pivoted to Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting striker was in prolific form last season, racking up 43 goals in 50 outings, across all competitions.
Arsenal recently sent scouts to watch Gyokeres, and the Swede certainly boasts plenty of attributes that will appeal to Arteta. Not only is he a killer in front of goal, but he is also a robust physical presence, able to hold up the ball, occupy defenders, and bring his teammates into play.
However, the 26-year-old is yet to test himself in the Premier League. As well as holding an interest in Gyokeres, Arsenal are now also eyeing up a target who has already proven himself in the top flight of English football.

Arsenal could fight Tottenham for Dominic Solanke rather than Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal are now considering a move for Dominic Solanke. The Bournemouth man was in blistering form last season, as he struck 19 times in 38 Premier League outings.
According to The Mirror, the Cherries will let Solanke go this summer, if his £65 million release clause is met. Arsenal are aware of this clause, but so are their fierce local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
If the Gunners don’t act fast, then Spurs may trigger this release clause before them.
Should Arsenal go for Gyokeres or Solanke?
Arteta is known to covet Premier League experience in his transfer targets, and Solanke would be the cheaper option too, as Sporting are demanding £85 million for Gyokeres.
Signing Solanke, therefore, would represent less of a risk, but in turn the potential rewards are lower too. Gyokeres has superstar quality, and could be the game changer needed to take Arsenal to the next level.
