Declan Rice and Kai Havertz are amongst the Arsenal stars to have heaped praise on Gabriel Magalhaes.
Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes had a huge impact during Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
With the Gunners having lost their last three matches, it was vital that the north London club got back to winning ways against the Eagles.
Gabriel was on hand to give the his side the perfect start, as he rose highest in the box in the 11th minute to divert a corner into the back of the net with his head.
Before half-time, the 26-year-old was on hand to get his head onto another corner delivery. This time, his effort at the far post was parried into his own net by Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, meaning it was officially recorded as an own goal.
Whilst Gabriel obviously deserves huge praise for his role in both goals and the Gunners’ win, Mikel Arteta also took time to give credit to Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover after the match.

Plenty of Gabriel’s teammates were keen to laud his contribution against the south London side, too. Responding to the 6-cap Brazil international’s Instagram post after the final whistle, Declan Rice dubbed the defender a “Monster”, whilst Kai Havertz call him a “Beast”.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright expressed his joy over the centre-back’s contribution, whilst the club’s former midfielder and current sporting director, Edu, also sent a message of his own, stating that Gabriel’s success was “well deserved.”
Arsenal now need to kick on from this result and put together an extended run of winning form in order to get their Premier League title push truly back on track. Arteta’s players will have taken huge confidence from this convincing victory, which they must carry with them into their next match.
