Arsenal picked up their fifth red card of the Premier League season as Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off against West Ham.

After West Ham went ahead in the first half of the contest, Arsenal were handed an uphill battle to climb after the interval.

Matters weren’t made easier for Mikel Arteta’s side, as Lewis-Skelly was sent off after VAR intervention.

The teenager hauled Mohammed Kudus down which was initially deemed a yellow card but, a VAR review saw the offence upgraded to a red for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Myles Lewis-Skelly eligible to play in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final

Due to the offence being a denial of a goalscoring chance rather than serious foul play, Lewis-Skelly will only serve a one-match ban.

As a result of the mishap, the teenager will miss Arsenal’s clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground but, that doesn’t mean he will miss all of the action that the week holds.

On Friday, Arsenal under-18’s meet Manchester United under-18’s in a fiery FA Youth Cup quarter-final, a fixture that Lewis-Skelly could feature in.

Age-wise, the left-back is eligible to play in the game, which could be an option for the Hale End graduate given that he will miss the first-team clash at the City Ground.

It would be a boost for the Young Gunners but, such is rather unlikely given the schedule Lewis-Skelly is required for in the Premier League and the Champions League with fixtures coming thick and fast.

Such situation isn’t alien to Arsenal, as Fabio Vieira featured for the under-21’s following a red card in 2023 but, now that Lewis-Skelly is an integral part of Arteta’s plans, it seems more likely that he will be protected with a rest.

Ones to watch in Arsenal U18 FA Youth Cup clash vs Man United U18

Regardless of whether Lewis-Skelly features against Man United under-18’s, there will be a bright array of talent on show for the Gunners.

Max Dowman starred in the FA Youth Cup against Fulham to book Arsenal’s ticket in the next round, with the 15-year-old already held in high regard to Arteta.

As well as the Young Gunners, there could be some former Arsenal starlets on show for Man United, with Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi eligible to face their ex-club.

That being said, the duo have been considered first-teamers by Ruben Amorim, making their presence on the night difficult to predict.

The Emirates will play host to the fixture, which promises to be a lively game between two sides littered with talent.
