Myles Lewis-Skelly’s first words after signing new Arsenal contract

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s journey from academy star to senior team ace has been an impressive one, and he isn’t stopping there.

A new, extended contract for the 18-year-old keeps him at the club for the future, which comes as a huge boost to Mikel Arteta and the way he wants to play.

Lewis-Skelly appeared delighted with the contract as he said on the official Arsenal website: “I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan, and it’s like a dream come true.”

“I’ve embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.

“I know I’ve taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I’ve made. I’m definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

It comes as a huge boost, with plenty more to come from Andrea Berta and the team in tying some other stars down to new deals.

How long Myles Lewis-Skelly’s new Arsenal contract is

At one point, there was some concern over the future of Myles Lewis-Skelly from the Arsenal fans.

Real Madrid were showing interest in Lewis-Skelly, though that has come to an end with his latest contract extension.

The youngster has signed a five-year deal, which will take him up to the 2030 season with the Gunners.

That takes him the furthest into the future within the squad, along with Gabriel Magalhaes and the new contract he signed.

With improved terms and security on his deal, Lewis-Skelly will be looking to make next year an even better one.
