Robin van Persie is one of the best Arsenal strikers of the Premier League era but it’s fair to say he probably saved his best work for Manchester United.

Van Persie was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson and went on to lead United to the Premier League title in his first season with the club.

Still, with 132 goals for Arsenal, Van Persie remains one of our best strikers of recent times.

But just how good was he? Well, former United defender Nemanja Vidic has ranked the Dutchman and put him ahead of some pretty impressive strikers.

Tell us we’re wrong…Robin van Persie is only behind Thierry Henry as Arsenal’s best ever Premier League striker

Where Robin van Persie ranks compared to Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez

The Premier League has had some superb strikers over the years and Nemanja Vidic has come up against some of the very best.

Indeed, doing a ranking of the best strikers for DSport on TikTok, Vidic put Van Persie above a number of top forwards.

Vidic first picked Van Persie in knocking Didier Drogba off the list, before the Dutchman kept his place ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luis Suarez, Filippo Inzaghi and Karim Benzema.

However, Van Persie’s run came to an end when it came to Wayne Rooney, with Vidic selecting Rooney over his former strike partner.

In the end, though, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who knocked Rooney off, before keeping his spot ahead of Lionel Messi as well in Vidic’s opinion.

Where Robin van Persie sits in Arsenal’s all-time top Premier League goal scorers

In fairness to Robin van Persie, he might have only got his Premier League title at Old Trafford but in terms of goals for Arsenal, there are only two better in Premier League terms.

Van Persie sits third in the all-time standings for the Gunners on 96 league goals. Only Ian Wright (104) and Thierry Henry (175) are ahead of him.

It’s a big shame really that Van Persie never led Arsenal to the trophies his quality probably deserved.

He was a late bloomer, for sure. But still, it feels like while Arsenal got a lot of good from him, he was on another level by the time United landed him.

Nevertheless, Van Persie remains one of Arsenal’s Premier League greats.
