Nuno Tavares hails former Arsenal teammate Granit Xhaka after Sunderland beat Chelsea
Sunderland have been phenomenal since their promotion to the Premier League.
After seeing all the promoted clubs go down in recent seasons, nobody really gave the Black Cats much of a chance.
However, under Regis Le Bris’ management and Granit Xhaka’s captaincy, they have impressed everyone with their performances.
Against Chelsea, Xhaka was one of the best players on the pitch.
The former Arsenal star made more tackles than any other player, won six of his seven duels and didn’t commit a single foul in the entire game.
After the clash, the midfielder took to Instagram to celebrate the win, and in the comments section was one of his old Gunners teammates, Nuno Tavares.
“Legend,” he wrote!
Granit Xhaka will play against Arsenal soon
Xhaka spent seven years as an Arsenal player and went through a lot.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man had the lowest moment of his career while wearing the famous red and white, when he had a go at fans at the Emirates Stadium during a game against Crystal Palace.
Xhaka was stripped of his captaincy and was about to leave, but Mikel Arteta changed everything. He convinced him to stay and made him one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Arsenal sold Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, and in just two weeks’ time, he will face Arsenal in a competitive game for the first time ever.
As much as he loves Arsenal, we’re sure he will want to get one over on the Gunners for his new club.
