Arsenal are expected to announce the signing of Eberechi Eze imminently after moving swiftly to beat their arch rivals to his signature.

It looked as though Eze was on his way to White Hart Lane before Andrea Berta hijacked the deal and brought the England international to the Gunners.

Adrian Clarke believes Eze will improve Bukayo Saka upon his arrival and there is hope he will also be key to unlocking the full goalscoring potential of fellow new recruit Viktor Gyokeres.

It will be interesting to see how Mikel Arteta sees Eze fitting into his side, however, former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has made a surprising revelation over Oliver Glasner’s true feelings about losing his star man.

Harry Redknapp has heard that Oliver Glasner ‘won’t lose sleep’ over Eberechi Eze departure

Arsenal could yet sign another player in the window after the arrival of Eze as they wait to find out the extent of the injury to Kai Havertz.

Crystal Palace, in contrast, have seen their numbers decline this summer, however, Redknapp has been told that Glasner ‘won’t lose sleep’ over seeing Eze move to North London.

Speaking to talkSPORT about Arsenal’s deal to sign Eze, Redknapp stated: “They’ve probably hung about and waited for Arsenal to come in.

“If he’s an Arsenal fan, he sees Arsenal as maybe a team that could win the league this year, the Premier League and he’s hung on and maybe he’s had the word from Arsenal don’t dive in, we’re interested. It’s a shame for Tottenham and it’s a big shame for Crystal Palace.

“Although someone did tell me that the manager [Glasner] wouldn’t lose any sleep over it because he plays a very structured game and structured team and Eze is a bit of a free spirit.”

‘Free spirit’ Eberechi Eze is exactly what Arsenal need

Eze wasn’t registered in time to play against Leeds United in the upcoming Premier League clash, however, it is exactly the sort of game that the 27-year-old has been signed for.

Arteta’s side struggled to create chances against low-blocks last season and Eze has the ability to unlock a defence with a moment of magic.

Whether that is an incisive pass through the lines or a long-range shot that finds the top corner, Arsenal have missed having a ‘maverick’ in their attacking options.

Eze will still have to comply with Arteta’s rigid structure and he will have to learn there are jobs to do defensively, but his magic in front of goal could be the missing ingredient for the Gunners.
