Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now outsiders for the Premier League title, which is a pretty unthinkable position from where they were a few weeks ago.

Arsenal have received widespread criticism for their approach to the game, as they went toe to toe with the Citizens.

Now, Patrice Evra has joined in on the Gunners criticism, as he slammed Theo Walcott for daring to compare the North Londoners to Manchester United’s 2008 winners.

Theo Walcott slammed for comparing Arsenal to Man United’s 2008 team

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, former Man United left-back Patrice Evra said Walcott should never be on TV again for his totally ‘delusional’ Arsenal comment.

“That’s the problem with Arsenal,” Evra stated.

“Now, he’s comparing this team with our 2008 team. I think he’s a menace for society. He should not be on TV.

“It’s dangerous for the kids. But that’s why I keep saying they are delusional. And I know I talk with my heart, but they are delusional.

“This is a disrespect. Like, he should never, never be on TV again when he starts asking questions like that.”

Certainly harsh words from Evra, especially considering Arsenal remain in the Premier League title race and in the Champions League.

Whilst it’s been a damaging couple of weeks for the Gunners, there is still a fair chance they could end the season with a memorable double.

Walcott will hope Evra’s left with egg on his face come the end of the campaign.
