Patrick Vieira says a ‘really strong statement’ has been sent to Arsenal’s rivals after what Mikel Arteta did

Patrick Vieira was the captain when Arsenal last won the Premier League title.

The legendary Frenchman led the iconic Invincibles to glory in the 2003/04 season. That was his third league title in England, all of which came under Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have been dreaming of winning the Premier League since, but despite their best efforts and coming close on multiple occasions, they haven’t been able to get over the line.

This season could be different, says Vieira.

Patrick Vieira says Mikel Arteta has made a ‘really strong statement’ at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has done a phenomenal job at Arsenal.

The Spaniard has entered his sixth full season at the helm at the Emirates, and he has fully transformed the club in that period.

Arsenal have come very close to winning the Premier League title in each of the last three seasons, but they have fallen short every single time.

The aim this season is to go all the way, and Vieira believes it could happen because of the eight new players Arteta signed in the summer.

He told Sky Sports: “Arteta made a really strong statement by bringing those players.

“I think on the field, so far, they are doing really good games, and I believe Arsenal are part of those few teams that can win the Premier League.

“I think you will have to count on Arsenal to be competitive and to be there to fight until the end because the players they managed to bring will put the quality of the team in a different level.”

Arsenal winning the Premier League would be an incredible achievement for one reason

Even though Arsenal have been the most consistent team in the Premier League over the last three seasons, nobody gave them a chance at the start of this term.

Almost every pundit backed Liverpool to retain their crown after seeing them break their transfer record twice on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.

However, Arsenal are now the favourites to win the Premier League and Champions League titles, according to Opta.

If they go on to do it, it would be an incredible achievement and would prove so many pundits wrong.
