Iconic former midfielder Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for Arsenal v Luton Town ahead of their meeting on Wednesday.
Arsenal will be looking to build upon their draw against Manchester City with a win over Luton Town.
Jamie Carragher recently revealed how many points he feels Arsenal will need in order to be crowned champions. This target leaves almost no margin for error for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Whilst the north London club will be heavy favourites against the Hatters, the visitors are currently fighting for top flight survival and Arsenal will also have to cope with the pressure and expectation that comes with their position in the title race.
Mikel Arteta must make use of Arsenal squad against Luton Town
Arteta may also have to take this match as an opportunity to rest and rotate some key figures in his regular starting XI. The Spanish coach confirmed that Bukayo Saka was suffering with “fatigue” after the Manchester City clash, and the winger could certainly do with a proper break.

The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey, and Leandro Trossard, amongst others, could all be in contention for a start in this midweek fixture.
With fixtures set to come thick and fast between now and the end of the campaign, Arteta will need to lean on the strength in depth of his squad to ensure that his side have the energy levels required to compete until the bitter end. This will be the biggest test of the Gunners’ credentials as potential Premier League and Champions League winners, as they will need some of the more fringe figures in the first-team group to step up in big moments.
Paul Merson shares Arsenal v Luton prediction and takes swipe at Spurs
Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for the north London outfit’s encounter with Luton Town. As quoted by Sportskeeda, the 56-year-old, who made over 400 appearances for Arsenal in his playing career, said, “if Arsenal turn up with the right attitude this week, they win…Luton can cause problems in this fixture, but Arsenal are not Tottenham – they have been very consistent. I don’t see anything but an Arsenal win.”
Merson backed the Gunners to win 4-0 against Luton, and clearly could not resist taking a swipe at Tottenham Hotspur. It is true that Spurs have not been able to match the consistency that their north London rivals have produced this season.
The Gunners do have to be wary of the threat that Luton pose. Rob Edwards’ side are well-drilled and have already run Arsenal close this season, when it was only Declan Rice’s last gasp winner that secured a 4-3 victory at Kenilworth Road.
