Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has now told Arsenal how many points they will need in order to be crowned Premier League champions.
Arsenal are currently engaged in a three-horse race for the Premier League title.
As things stand, there is so little to separate Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City. The Gunners are currently in pole position, but only by virtue of having a better goal difference than the Reds. They are also just a single point ahead of Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions.
The landscape at the top of the Premier League table will change again this weekend, as Arsenal will travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City, meaning at least one of those two sides is certain to drop points.
Whatever happens between Arsenal and Manchester City on Sunday will not determine the outcome of the Premier League title race. The winner of that match, should there be one, will get a huge boost to their confidence and momentum. However, there will still be plenty of points to play for, tough tests to overcome, and little to separate the top three.
Beyond this clash in the north west, Mikel Arteta’s men will still have to take on Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United away from home this season.
The data certainly suggests that Arsenal face a difficult run-in.

How many points will Arsenal need to win the Premier League title?
Jamie Carragher has now given his verdict on the Gunners’ upcoming fixtures. Speaking on The Overlap, the former Liverpool defender said, “I was looking at it, I actually think 90 points [will be needed to win title]…That would be Liverpool dropping four points from where they are…I could see Arsenal dropping more than four points, with the away games that they’ve got.
Like Liverpool, Arsenal currently have 64 points on the board, and there are 30 points still left on the table to try and win. That leaves precious little margin for error.
Arteta has already shared his targeted points tally, and he is agreement with Carragher on the figure that the ultimate champions will need to amass.
How can Arsenal get to 90 points?
Above all, it is vital that Arteta’s side avoid defeat, at the very least, on Sunday. Manchester City represent the biggest hurdle that they will have to overcome, in terms of the quality of their opposition, between now and the end of the Premier League season.
However, victory must still be the aim. The Gunners have to be bold, and play positive, attacking football, not just this weekend but consistently between now and the end of the campaign. It was that kind of approach that got them into this brilliant position in the first place, after all.
