Paul Merson believes that Leandro Trossard is ‘very underrated’ at Arsenal and has become a key player for Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Belgian winger has had an up-and-down season at the Emirates Stadium, but he scored arguably the biggest goal of the season away at West Ham United.

Trossard has produced eight goals and ten assists in all competitions this season, which is not bad going for a player who was nearly sold last summer.

Now, Merson has spoken about how good the 31-year-old has been for Arsenal and why he is not rated highly enough by people outside of the club.

Paul Merson has revealed that he is a massive fan of Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard following his role in the team’s Premier League title win.

The Arsenal legend claims that his ability to use both feet so well makes him such a top player and someone who can always feature in the big games.

Speaking about the winger, Merson told The Good, The Bad & The Football: “I think Trossard is a proper footballer.

“He did something last week in a game against Burnley. I don’t think any professional footballer in the Premier League can do now.

“He got the ball on the left. He went to play it with the outside of his right down the line. It got cut, and he brought it back on his left and bent it around the defender.

“I don’t think there’s hardly anybody in the Premier League who could do that with both feet. Very underrated. Very good footballer. Plays in all the big games.”

The former Brighton star is likely to start the Champions League final and complete what has been an incredible journey for him in North London.

Trossard came close to leaving Arsenal last summer, but, luckily, they kept hold of him, given what a big player he has been for the Gunners this season.
