Paul Scholes has told Thomas Tuchel that Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson cannot play alongside one another after struggling against Ghana.

England struggled against the African nation at the World Cup as they were held to a goalless draw at the Boston Stadium.

Arsenal fans….you can sign Elliott Anderson but it will cost £140m, are YOU doing it or not?

The Three Lions failed to create enough chances to really hurt Carlos Queiroz’s side, and the midfield has been partly blamed for this.

Following the 0-0 in Massachusetts, Scholes has urged Tuchel to switch up his midfield for the next game against Panama.

Paul Scholes tells England to break up Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson midfield

Paul Scholes has told England boss Thomas Tuchel to break up the partnership of Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson in the midfield.

The former Manchester United midfielder says that both players were not needed in the middle when England had the lion’s share of the possession.

Speaking about England’s midfield selection, Scholes told The Good, The Bad & The Football: “The midfield just isn’t right. I think in a game like that, where you’re going to have all of the ball, you don’t need Rice and Anderson together.”

Scholes has also told Tuchel that Bellingham should not be playing in the number ten and should be dropped into a deeper role.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did, Bellingham is not a number 10, he’s a number eight who can run. A number 10 gets your team playing good football. That’s not Bellingham. Bellingham is a number eight; he has to arrive in the box late,” added Scholes.

Rice has urged his England teammates to do more with the ball, and it’s clear the Three Lions need to switch things up against Panama.

Declan Rice is an injury doubt for Panama

Rice was spotted in heavy strapping after the Ghana game as he walked through the mixed zone at the Boston Stadium.

The midfielder suffered a heavy blow in the latter stages of the game against Ghana and will now be touch-and-go to face Panama.

Tuchel should use the game as a chance to rest the 27-year-old, who has played an incredible amount of football this season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal target Morgan Rogers could come into the team for one of Rice or Anderson, with Bellingham dropping deeper.
