A lot has been said about Arsenal winning the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this season.

The Gunners are currently five points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side and are the favourites to go all the way in the title race.

However, many people have claimed that Arsenal will not be worthy champions if they win the title because of their style of play, reliance on set-pieces and the quality of the league this season.

Guardiola does not agree with those people.

Pep Guardiola disagrees with Premier League title claim about Arsenal

The Arsenal players and Mikel Arteta have had to listen to a lot of unnecessary criticism this season.

The North Londoners have undoubtedly been the best team in the Premier League and Champions League this term, and their position in both competitions proves that.

Despite that, certain pundits have been firing repeated shots at the Gunners, with Paul Scholes calling Arsenal the worst team to win the title if they go all the way.

Guardiola, who knows what it takes to win the Premier League more than most, has slammed the criticism of set-pieces and the claim that this season’s champions won’t be worthy of the title.

He said while speaking about Arsenal’s set-piece goals, as per ESPN: “I’m pretty sure the manager is happy and the players are so happy.

“And I’m pretty sure you ask all the Arsenal fans, and they will say: ‘Don’t change one second our set pieces.’

“They have the feeling when it goes to set pieces, ‘wow, I’m going to score’. I’m pretty sure all the teams will want to create that vibe.

“I’m not [in agreement] with the people saying ‘no, that the league is not good this season, the winner will not be good’. I don’t agree.”

Arsenal will be one of the best Premier League champions ever if they win it

Arsenal will neither get the 100 points that Manchester City did a few years ago, nor will they go the entire season unbeaten like Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles.

However, if they win the Premier League this season, Arteta’s side will be one of the best champions of all time.

That is because the quality of the teams in the Premier League – from top to bottom – is at an extremely high level.

Every team can beat any other.

In such a season, Arsenal have been better than everyone else, which is why if they go all the way, they will be one of the best to ever do it.
