The Premier League title race heated up on matchday 15 as Arsenal’s lead at the top was cut to two points.
Arsenal won’t want Manchester City chasing them in a title race, as history shows, missing out on the title to Pep Guardiola’s side in 2022/23 and then 2023/24.
The Gunners’ last-minute defeat to Aston Villa changed how the Premier League table looks, with Arsenal having a two-point lead over City and a three-point lead over Villa.
Though the table is still reading in Arsenal’s favour, the title race became an even hotter topic of discussion after the action on matchday 15, with Guardiola passing comment.

Pep Guardiola shares Premier League title race prediction after Arsenal’s defeat to Aston Villa
After Arsenal lost 2-1 at Villa Park, Man City hosted Sunderland at the Etihad, winning comfortably with a 3-0 victory.
At full-time in Manchester, Guardiola spoke about the title race when catching up with the BBC.
“It is better to be closer than further to the top of the league, but from my experience of winning the Premier League and titles, it is the consistency.
“Consistency comes from the way you play, not from the results or being two points in front or four in front.”

Though Arsenal have been warned about Man City, Guardiola’s latest prediction about the Gunners suggests that the Cityzens are also wary of their title rivals.
“With the Premier League, I have the feeling that Arsenal are going to drop [very] few points, and if we want to be there, we have to win games and games,” Guardiola said.
“That comes from the way you perform, not just for a lucky day or lucky action.”
The defeat against Villa was painful and tough to take, given the circumstances in which the game was lost, making it easy to forget that it was only Arsenal’s second loss of the campaign.
Man City just did something that should really concern Arsenal
The defeat would’ve naturally hurt Mikel Arteta, but the Arsenal manager won’t be burying his head in the sand over his team’s first loss in four months.
What might alert the boss, however, is what happened at the Etihad.
Manchester City’s reliance on Erling Haaland
Man City beat Sunderland comfortably without the help of Erling Haaland, who had a quiet afternoon by his standards.
One boost for Arsenal in the title race has been how reliant Man City are on Haaland, but in week 15, they showed another side.
The race is heating up, as was to be expected given how early we are into the campaign, with a lot of football to be played and everything to be decided.
