Arsenal have a number of former players plying their trade in the Premier League this season.

Danny Welbeck is one of the most notable examples, with the Brighton and Hove Albion striker enjoying a phenomenal season.

Welbeck is actually the highest-scoring Englishman in the division, netting 13 goals at the age of 35-years-old.

Peter Schmeichel urges Man United to sign former Arsenal star Granit Xhaka

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Schmeichel made a very bold plea for Manchester United to sign former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

“I have one which is probably a little bit controversial in thinking, but I think we should go on and sign Xhaka,” the former United goalkeeper stated.

“Cheap. Have you watched him? No, seriously. No, I make my case. What we’re going to do is build a team around Kobbie, right? Now, Casamero is leaving.

Here’s our Arsenal XI to take on Atletico Madrid…are you making any changes?

“Now, you bring somebody like Wharton, Anderson, whatever, that’s still young and that’s still untried.

“What we need and what we don’t really have, apart from Harry and Bruno in that team, is proper leadership, right? When I look at what Xhaka has done for Sunderland, Xhaka is the reason they are where they are.

“He has been absolutely amazing. His leadership qualities are great.”

Xhaka is widely regarded as one of the signings of the season, as he’s proved to be a bargain at just £13m.

The 33-year-old has registered a commendable seven-goal involvement from midfield and his presence in the team can’t be overstated.

Ian Wright actually believes Arsenal sold Xhaka too early in his career and if he were to move to a club like Man United this summer, that’d certainly amplify that notion.
