Three and a half years after his Arsenal exit, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still showing his love for the club.

Aubameyang’s exit at Arsenal was far from straightforward, as a falling out with Mikel Arteta was the beginning of the end for the striker at the Emirates.

It was a dire shame to see the Gabon international leave the way he did, as after signing a new deal at Arsenal as captain, things went downhill rapidly.

Still, fans will never forget what Aubameyang did for the club, contributing to 113 goals in 163 appearances, and it appears that the forward hasn’t forgotten his ties either.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes his Arsenal feelings known

Aubameyang realised he had no choice but to leave Arsenal out of fear of something going ‘wrong’ for him.

Unfortunately, the player’s fears played out, as Arteta axed his captain from his plans after a dispute over a disciplinary breach.

Though the Gabonese star has no regrets over what led to his falling out with the Arsenal manager, it’s clear that he misses those at the Emirates.

On Instagram, Aubameyang posed in a 2004/05 Arsenal shirt with Thierry Henry on the back, which prompted discussion in the comments.

Gabriel Magalhaes and Alex Iwobi were amongst those to react, but what stood out was a comment that the former Arsenal captain liked from a fan.

An Arsenal supporter wrote, ‘Gunner for life’, which Aubameyang chose to like, signalling his affection for the club years after his controversial departure.

It was a torrid few years for the forward after leaving North London, as he lost a lot of his admirers in N5 after signing for Chelsea the same year he departed the Emirates.

What is Aubameyang doing now?

Things didn’t work out for Aubameyang at Chelsea, and once he departed the Premier League, some at Arsenal began to feel for the forward again.

Now 36, Aubameyang is enjoying his football in Saudi Arabia, with a move to Al-Qadsiah coming in 2024 after a high-scoring spell at Marseille.

During the 2024/25 campaign, the former Gunner found the net 21 times in 36 appearances.

In the latter stages of his career, Aubameyang is under contract with the Saudi Pro League club until next summer, with his next steps unknown.
