Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal almost three years ago, but he still follows the Gunners.

The Gabon international was Arsene Wenger’s final signing at the Emirates. He became an instant star at the club and fans absolutely loved him.

Aubameyang produced several match-winning performances during his time at Arsenal and although his spell at the club ended badly, the good work he did should not be forgotten.

Now, the former Gunners skipper has made a bold claim about one of his old teammates.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes Ballon d’Or claim about Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka

Aubameyang was the biggest star at Arsenal when Bukayo Saka made his debut.

The striker shared a great relationship with the Englishman despite the 12-year age gap. Aubameyang even nicknamed Saka ‘Little Chilli’ and gifted him a flashy chain.

Saka was just a hugely talented prospect at the time, but over the last few years, he has developed into one of the best players in the world.

The 23-year-old has been among the biggest reasons why Arsenal have challenged for the title in each of the last two seasons.

Aubameyang must be proud of his old teammate, and he feels Saka has the potential to achieve something that no other Arsenal player has before – win the Ballon d’Or.

During a Q&A on the Residency App, a fan asked Aubameyang whether Saka could win the Ballon d’Or one day.

He replied: “I think he has the potential!”

Arsenal suffer huge Bukayo Saka

Saka has been Arsenal’s best player this season, but the Englishman is now set to face an extended spell on the sidelines following his injury.

The 23-year-old hurt his hamstring against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, and the initial expectation was that Saka would be out for two months.

However, there is more bad news.

Mikel Arteta confirmed that Saka has undergone surgery and will be out of action for more than two months.

That is a massive blow for Arsenal – one that could potentially cost them the Premier League title.
