Piers Morgan is one of the most critical Arsenal fans on the planet.
The presenter has often had a go at the Gunners and those working for the club. Some of his comments over the years have been utterly ridiculous, and he has deservedly been at the end of criticism from fans.
In recent months, however, Morgan hasn’t had much to complain about because Arsenal have mostly been fantastic.
That is all thanks to their manager, Mikel Arteta.
What Piers Morgan told Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta after meeting him
Arteta has some time off thanks to the international break.
Most of his players are away with their national teams, and that allows him to spend some time with his family and friends.
On Thursday night, Arteta went out for dinner at a restaurant where Piers Morgan was also present.
The journalist used the opportunity to get a picture with the Arsenal manager, and he has now revealed what he told Arteta.
Writing on Instagram, Morgan said: “Great to finally meet Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta last night, as we dined in the same restaurant.
“I told him he makes me happier than any other human being at the moment, that we’ve at last got a squad which will win the Premier League (we’re top), and that I love all his new signings, especially our new striker Viktor Gyokeres.
“I may even have told Mikel that I love him on a personal level too, at which point Celia [Morgan’s wife] apologised to him and asked if he’d like her to call security. (He laughed but declined the offer). Despite my fan-girling, he couldn’t have been nicer or more friendly.
“Arsenal are very lucky to have such a classy guy at the helm, and I really do believe, as I told him, that this is the year the pain and torment ends, and we win the League again after 21 long agonising years. Let’s do this, Mikel!”

Piers Morgan has clearly changed his mind about Mikel Arteta
Morgan’s opinions about players and managers at Arsenal sway with the wind.
On one day, he loves them, and a week later, he’s calling for their heads. That has happened many times in the past, which is why many fans don’t pay too much attention to what he says.
Back in 2018, after Unai Emery was appointed as the Arsenal head coach, Morgan completely backed the Spaniard. While doing so, he claimed that Arteta would be a ‘disaster’ if he were chosen instead.
“Arteta would’ve been a complete disaster. Arteta hasn’t managed a paper bag. He might turn out to be a great coach, just wait and see, but it’s Guardiola doing the business there at City, not Arteta.”
Then, in May 2022, Morgan called for the Arsenal boss to be sacked. “Arteta should be fired. Instead, he’s been given a new deal and a massive pay rise. For abject failure. Utterly ridiculous,” he said.
Now, Morgan’s opinion of Arteta has completely changed.
