One player who left Arsenal this summer has become a superstar at his new club.
Mikel Arteta’s squad has seen a lot of change over the summer, as expected after missing out on the Premier League title once again.
Aside from welcoming new players to bolster Arsenal’s title chances, several figures have moved on, one of whom being Jorginho.
Jorginho left at the expiration of his Arsenal contract, signing for Brazilian club Flamengo as a free agent.

Jorginho is getting rave reviews in Brazil
There’s been little time for rest for the Italian since he left Arsenal, as Jorginho went to the Club World Cup with Flamengo.
It was a rapid turnaround for the midfielder, but one that Flamengo will be so glad about, as the Brazilian club are reaping the rewards of securing the 33-year-old’s signature.
Born and raised in Brazil, it’s unsurprising to learn that it’s taken Jorginho no time at all to adapt to life and football in Rio de Janeiro, with his latest performance displaying such.
As Flamengo beat Internacional 1-0 in the Copa Libertadores, praise flooded in for the former Arsenal star, who left fans mesmerised by his quality.
Brazilian outlet Torcedores relayed that some Flamengo fans have been left ‘scared’ by just how good Jorginho is, dubbing their summer signing an ‘unbelievable player’.
The report included a post on X from a supporter, who said, “The experience of watching Jorginho play from the stadium is simply captivating.”
Elsewhere, Estadio de Minas described the veteran midfielder as ‘remarkable’, applauding him for putting on a show at the Maracana.
Jorginho was happy to leave Arsenal when he did, but it could be that the Gunners are looking at their former player, wondering whether he should’ve been kept as an option.
What Jorginho did to dazzle fans
If there’s one thing Arsenal and Flamengo fans now have in common, it’s the ability to be left in awe of Jorginho.
Arsenal supporters loved watching Jorginho in full flow in N5, with the Italy international doing the same thing thousands of miles away in Brazil.
Jorginho vs Internacional
87 touches
90% pass success
100% dribble success
5 duel wins
8 defensive actions
Reading the feedback Jorginho got against Internacional, fans might be wondering what the 33-year-old did to merit such applause.
As seen above, the ex-Chelsea and Napoli star was quite frankly in full control of things in midfield, completing 90% of his passes, winning five duels and contributing to eight defensive actions.
One interesting part of the midfielder’s performance was his execution of as many as five interceptions, reinforcing his innate ability to read the game.
Arsenal’s loss is Flamengo’s gain, as Filipe Luis’ side haven’t looked back since acquiring Jorginho.
