All eyes are on who will be the referee for Arsenal’s Premier League game against Burnley this Saturday after what happened over the weekend.
A truly terrible performance from Stuart Attwell and co prompted a huge outburst from Mikel Arteta after the game. Arsenal then backed their boss with an official statement demanding better standards of refereeing.
Premier League appoint referee for Arsenal vs Burnley
The PGMOL and the Premier League are under enormous pressure to deliver after what happened in the game between Arsenal and Newcastle United last Saturday.
Bruno Guimaraes seemed like a man on a mission to hurt someone, but it was only after he got away with about four yellow card offences that he actually got booked. Even the FA’s rule book states he should’ve been sent off.
Then, to make things worse, Newcastle’s hugely controversial goal which could’ve been ruled for four different reasons, was allowed.
Mikel Arteta was absolutely furious after the game. He branded the refereeing as ’embarrassing’ and a ‘disgrace’, and we are fully behind our manager’s comments.
The Premier League and the PGMOL can’t mess up another Arsenal game, so they have turned to their best referee to officiate our clash against Burnley this Saturday.
Michael Oliver will be the man in the middle with Stuart Burt and Dan Cook as his assistants. Craig Pawson will be on the touchline as the fourth official, while VAR duties have been handed to Michael Salisbury and his assistant Ian Hussin.
We really do believe Oliver is the best referee in the Premier League right now, but he was also the guy who showed two yellow cards to Gabriel Martinelli in the space of about five seconds.

Arsenal are right to release a statement
A bunch of big names in the football punditry world have jumped on the opportunity to have a go at Mikel Arteta and Arsenal after what happened over the weekend.
Gary Neville, who just loves piling on Arsenal, is having a field day, but we don’t care what he says – we don’t even think Manchester United fans listen to him anymore.
The fact of the matter is that the standard of refereeing in the Premier League is atrocious. It has been that way for a while now, and there has been no sign of improvement.
Arteta was right to call it a disgrace and Arsenal rightly backed their manager after all the decisions that have gone against us over the last year or so. We are fully behind our boss and the club.
