It is no secret that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, is an Arsenal fan.

The 62-year-old is often spotted at the Emirates Stadium, watching his beloved Gunners in action in the Premier League and other competitions.

Arsenal have even gifted Starmer a private box at the Emirates, one that is otherwise sold for around £166,000 a year.

Now, the lifelong Gooner has had his say on what Mikel Arteta’s side needs to do to win the big trophies next season.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer tells Arsenal to sign a new striker

Arsenal have a big summer transfer window ahead of them.

The Gunners have come so close to winning the Premier League title in recent years, but for one reason or another, they haven’t been able to get over the line.

Many in the industry feel that the lack of a prolific striker at Arsenal is the reason why they haven’t got their hands on silverware yet.

Prime Minister Starmer seems to agree with that assessment, and he has now urged the decision makers at the club – led by owner Stan Kroenke – to sign a new striker this summer.

He told Sky Sports: “It is a good core team, so Arteta has done a good job in my view, got us into a really good place, but we have got to kick on from here – I know we did say that last season, but it is the hope that keeps you going and kills you if you are not careful!

“I think one or two extra players, I would not go for widespread change, a striker. That is the one that leaps out, and it has been for a little while now.

“It looks like we are shoring up midfield, so that is good, and the back four is pretty good, perhaps a little bit more strength because of injuries, but it is that up-front striker role we need. We need to add there.”

Stan Kroenke cannot repeat the one mistake he made last season

Stan Kroenke has always divided opinion among the Arsenal fan base.

Not many fans of clubs in the world really love their owners, and we’re sure the Arsenal custodian knows that he will never have full approval.

But, the criticism Kroenke and his board received earlier this year is completely warranted.

Arteta pleaded for a new striker in January after injuries hit Arsenal, but the decision-makers at the club did not fulfil his wishes.

That, according to many fans, is the reason why Arsenal could not win the Premier League and the Champions League.

Kroenke cannot repeat that mistake now. He needs to make funds available for Andrea Berta to sign a prolific striker in the coming weeks.
