Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres could benefit from another of the Gunners’ new signings this summer, according to pundit Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Arsenal have assembled a world-class squad over the past few years, and it looks as though Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are applying the finishing touches.

The Gunners have long been crying out for a new No. 9, and they got themselves one of Europe’s most in-form strikers in Viktor Gyokeres.

Now, Arsenal are said to have made a signing that could really help the Sweden international explode in his maiden season at the Emirates.

Eberechi Eze backed to bring the best out of Viktor Gyokeres

Shaun Wright-Phillips believes Gyokeres will really benefit from the signing of Eberechi Eze, who joined Arsenal just last week.

Arsenal signed Eze from Crystal Palace for around £68million and, to make things better, they did so from under the noses of bitter rivals Tottenham.

Wright-Phillips believes Eze’s experience playing alongside Jean-Philippe Mateta at Palace will stand him in good stead when linking up with Gyokeres.

“Do you know who I think will benefit him? Eze,” Wright-Phillips said on Premier League Productions. “Because he’s been used to playing with that target number nine, Mateta.

“And he plays those bounce passes, the one-twos, and he plays them in. Gyokeres loves to run into space. Eze will create space for him and find those passes.”

What Eberechi Eze ‘might say’ to Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal trip to Liverpool

All eyes will be on Anfield on Sunday when the reigning Premier League champions and last season’s runners-up lock horns in an early title clash.

Eze has been working tirelessly in training ahead of the game, and there’s a good chance he’ll start against Liverpool amid several injury worries.

Ian Wright has predicted that Eze could start on the left, before claiming the 27-year-old may well tell Arteta he doesn’t care where he plays, so long as he features.

“He won’t bother,” said Wright. “He might say, ‘listen, I just want to play and stamp myself and then go from there’.”

Should Eze start, it’ll be exciting to see how he links up with his new colleagues, particularly Gyokeres.
