Following Bukayo Saka’s injury against Crystal Palace, a lot of Arsenal fans may be hoping that Raheem Sterling is now ready to step up.
Sterling delivered a promising performance in the first of Arsenal’s wins over Crystal Palace in the last week, two victories that have kick-started some positive momentum.
Unfortunately, Sterling picked up a training injury which meant that he missed Arsenal’s trip to Selhurst Park.
Sterling has enjoyed a pretty exemplary injury record in his illustrious career to date, providing confidence that his issue could only be minor.

Arteta provided a Saka injury update following the 5-1 win over Palace, and it suddenly feels as if Arsenal’s options on the wing have become very limited.
Raheem Sterling seriously impressed by Gabriel Jesus against Crystal Palace
That being said, there might be some temptation to use Gabriel Jesus out wide in the busy weeks to come.
Unfortunately, Jesus can’t play Palace every single week, and perhaps the Brazilian could be well suited to a role cutting in from the wing over the festive period.

Otherwise, Gabriel Martinelli will play out on the right with Leandro Trossard on the left, a rare appearance for both on the pitch at the time.
Of course, some fans in N17 will argue that Jesus shouldn’t be shifted anywhere right now after five goals in two games.
Jesus took to Instagram after the win against Palace and took the chance to post a similar photo to one at the Emirates Stadium a few days before.
The striker pointed to the sky celebrating his goal, a post that a host of Jesus’ Arsenal teammates replied to.
Although he was missing with his injury, Sterling loved Jesus’ performance, hailing him as ‘sharp’.
William Saliba also joined in by writing ‘what a player’ and then Declan Rice also described his in-form teammate as ‘special’.

Another excellent outing for Jesus, who will be looking to prove that this isn’t just a purple patch during Arsenal’s next test against Ipswich Town.
The fixture list isn’t too brutal for Arteta and his side over the coming weeks, but Jesus’ return to form is still incredibly timely.

It felt as if Jesus was finished at Arsenal in recent months, a player devoid of quality and confidence in front of goal.
However, it’s incredible what difference a week can make – suddenly Arsenal’s number nine is the first name on the teamsheet.
In the wake of losing Saka for a period, Arsenal will need a new maverick up top, and everything now looks primed for Jesus to play an unlikely starring role.
