The winger appears to have suffered a groin injury ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Leeds United and was replaced by Noni Madueke.

Ahead of the match, the Arsenal legend spoke about the injury and why he is not hugely concerned about losing such a key player just yet.

Ray Parlour reacts to Bukayo Saka’s injury

Ray Parlour is backing Madueke to step up and replace Bukayo Saka following the winger’s injury in the Arsenal warm-up at Leeds.

The former Gunners’ midfielder has suggested Saka has not been in the best of form recently, so it’s a chance for Madueke to stake his claim in the team.

After learning about Saka’s injury, Parlour told the Premier League: “Madueke will be ready. The preparation is exactly the same as the other players.

“He’ll be ready to go but it’s bad news for Arsenal – let’s hope it’s not too serious. People argue Saka hasn’t been in the best form, but to lose your captain in the warm-up. It’s a big opportunity for Madueke now.”

True or false: Noni Madueke CAN step up and replace Bukayo Saka for the next few weeks…

Andrea Berta should now be waiting to see how bad Saka’s injury really is and getting ready to react in the final days of the window.

The Italian director reacted quickly to Kai Havertz’s knee injury at Manchester United by going and signing Eberechi Eze from under Tottenham’s nose.

Losing Saka for an extended period would be a massive blow for Arsenal, even if Madueke can step up and replace him.

Paul Merson on Bukayo Saka’s injury

Paul Merson was hugely concerned by Saka’s injury, and suggested that it looked a rather worrying issue for the Arsenal winger.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Merson said: “He is holding his groin and not moving properly. It is not good.

“Big football match, big player missing. I cannot emphasise enough – Arsenal HAVE to win this football match.”
