Ray Parlour has revealed which player would have been worthy of a place in Arsenal’s invincible side.
The term “invincible” was coined for Arsenal when they won the Premier League league title in 2004 without losing a single match.
They became the first team in Premier League history to achieve this feat.
Managed by legendary manager Arsene Wenger, the Frenchman boasted a squad brimming with world-beating talent, as the likes of Jens Lehmann, Ashley Cole, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry all formed the spine of their unbeaten season.
Henry finished as the league’s top scorer with a staggering 30 goals while midfielder Ray Parlour played his part in midfield having made 25 appearances across that campaign.
Although it would have been difficult for most players in world football to break into such an incredible team at the time, Parlour has revealed which player he thinks would have.

Ray Parlour reveals which Premier League legend would have got into the invincible side
Despite the squad being packed full of talent in every position, Ray Parlour revealed the one player across Premier League history who he thought would secure a spot in the starting eleven, regardless of the competition.
Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “If I had to pick one player, it’s got to be Steven Gerrard,
“Bryan Robson was my idol growing up, he could do everything, and Gerrard is the nearest player I’ve seen to him.
“I loved the way Gerrard played as a midfielder. He would probably play in front of Gilberto Silva. He did a great job that year, he was like the invisible wall, but he probably wouldn’t get in that team over Gerrard.”
It’s clear to see why Parlour would have wanted Gerrard in the team.
He was the complete midfielder, who could grab the game by the scruff of the neck and produce moments of brilliance while being a sensational playmaker and tough tackler all rolled into one.
Gerrard crafted a legacy for being one of the greatest midfielders to grace the Premier League and if Declan Rice continues on his current trajectory, he could follow suit.
Declan Rice can become Arsenal’s own Steven Gerrard
Rice has been Arsenal’s most crucial player this season and is a complete midfielder like Gerrard.
Although he’s impressed with his defensive ability in the middle of the park, he’s also grabbed games by the scruff of the neck like the former and saved the Gunners on several occasions.
From scoring the winner against Manchester United to netting an equaliser against Chelsea and heading home in the dying embers to beat Luton Town, the Englishman has come up clutch in the big moments to spark scenes of wild celebration.
Gerrard was known for stepping up in critical situations during his time at Liverpool and so far, Rice has done the same.
Arteta will need him to continue delivering these match-winning displays if Arsenal are to lift the title in May
