Over the last few days, multiple reports from Spain have claimed that Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes is wanted by Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona.

Sport in Spain revealed earlier this week that the Catalans have placed the Gunners defender on top of their summer transfer shortlist.

It was even claimed that they are in talks with Arsenal over potential swap deals that would see Gabriel move to the Camp Nou before the start of next season.

Football London have confirmed today that Barcelona are indeed interested in signing Gabriel from Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Xavi is keen to add a left-footed centre-half to his side to replace Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti, who are both expected to move on at the end of this season.

The Barca boss views Gabriel as perfect for his system, but Arsenal have decided that they will not entertain any offers for the Brazilian, who has been one of our best players since he joined us from Lille in 2020.

It has been claimed that Mikel Arteta views Gabriel as integral to his plans, which means there’s no way he’ll even consider an offer from Barcelona – unless it’s a ginormous one that Edu and the Spaniard simply cannot turn down.

The Insider’s View:

We’ve let plenty of our players move to Barcelona over the years and as Arsenal fans, we’ve always hated that. Losing Gabi as well would be disastrous considering how good he has been and how high his ceiling is.

Arsenal’s decision to not entertain any offers for the Brazilian is absolutely the right one. He is one of our most important players, and the focus should be on retaining him and helping him fulfil his massive potential.

Gabriel, still only 24, will have three years left on his contract at the end of this season. He deserves to be rewarded for his performances over the last two years and if CBS Sports are to be believed, Arsenal are preparing to do exactly that in the coming months.

That’s brilliant news and hopefully, we can wrap this up before other clubs join Barca in expressing their interest in our brilliant central defender.
