Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has secretly confessed to Florentino Perez that sending Martin Odegaard on loan to Arsenal has caused serious damage to their success this season, according to Defensa Central.

The Norwegian stayed in Madrid after a successful loan spell at Real Sociedad last season. Everyone expected him to feature regularly, but Zidane had other ideas, and Odegaard barely played.

That convinced him that staying at Real Madrid would not be beneficial to his career. He forced his way out on loan and Arsenal were quick to snap him up in the January transfer window.

Real Madrid have since been knocked out of the Champions League and are five points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid having played a game less. It looks like the Galacticos will finish the season without any silverware, and Zidane has pointed the finger at Odegaard.

What Zidane has told Florentino Perez about Martin Odegaard

The report claims that Zidane has confessed to Perez that loaning Odegaard out was a big mistake. He is reportedly convinced that Real Madrid would’ve won the league had the Norwegian stayed, which is a surprise.

The Galacticos boss is apparently really upset with Odegaard’s decision to force his way out of the club. The report also claims that the Norwegian’s attitude in January could have a decisive impact on his Real Madrid future once he returns to the Spanish capital.

Good news for Arsenal?

A rift between Real Madrid and Odegaard is excellent news for Arsenal. The Gunners can now do everything they possibly can to lure the Norwegian in, but it will certainly not be easy this summer.

The 22-year-old has impressed everyone since joining Arsenal in January. He has attracted a ton of interest from a number of top clubs, and that will make things extremely difficult for us, especially if we stay where we are in the Premier League.

Edu should try to take advantage of the situation between Real Madrid and Odegaard quickly. Mikel Arteta’s convincing skills will be tested as well, but the Arsenal boss has done it before, and there’s no reason why he can’t do it again.
