Brazilian outlet UOL have shed some more light on the negotiations between Arsenal and Willian before he ripped up his deal and moved to Sao Paulo to join Corinthians.
The report claims that although Edu wanted his compatriot to leave, the Arsenal technical director was unwilling to let him join any other club in the country. Only when Willian agreed to that condition, the papers were signed and his contract was terminated.

Apart from waiving off the £20 million Arsenal owed him, Willian has also agreed to take a 70 per cent pay-cut to join Corinthians. This just shows that all the talk in the media about the Brazilian’s intentions were as false as anything could ever be.
