Former Arsenal Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham has joined Tottenham Hotspur in a shock move.

Venkatesham has been appointed as Spurs’ new CEO, having held a close relationship with the Lillywhites’ executive chairman Daniel Levy for some time now.

The football administrator will work closely with Levy, with the two hoping to forge a strong partnership that can improve all areas of the Gunners’ bitter rivals.

Venkatesham left Arsenal at the end of last season after being at the club for over a decade and rejected several other offers before joining Tottenham.

Arsenal fans react to Vinai Venkatesham’s move to Tottenham

Swapping N5 for N17, or vice versa, doesn’t tend to be a popular move, with the likes of Sol Campbell, Emmanuel Adebayor and William Gallas all finding this out.

It appears fans aren’t particularly fond of members of their respective club’s hierarchies doing this either, with Venkatesham receiving something of a hostile reaction from the Gunners faithful thus far.

One fan wrote on X: “Never trusted Vinai from the day he wanted to push Arsenal into the European Super League. The former Arsenal CEO showing his true colours by joining Spurs.”

Another simply added: “Vinai left us to join Spurs?? Such a traitor.”

Meanwhile, one supporter took a more light-hearted approach, writing: “Vinai, it’s your job to relegate them.”

Meanwhile, another fan delivered a more amusing verdict, simply asking: “What in the reverse Sol Campbell is this?”

One Arsenal fan provided a more retrospective outlook, posting: “To be clear, Vinai Venkatesham is a *Liverpool* fan. He has no allegiance to Arsenal other than time in post and let’s not forget that he was a good Chief Executive.”

Arsenal don’t need to be concerned with Tottenham

While seeing someone who was associated with Arsenal for such a long time go to the club’s greatest rivals is tough, ultimately the Gunners shouldn’t be concerned with happenings down the road.

Tottenham currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and are miles off being in the vicinity of Arsenal regarding competitiveness.

The Gunners’ neighbours need a major rebuild from top to bottom, with the culture of the club and the way it’s run not conducive to winning major honours.

Nothing Venkatesham is able to do will be able to change that in the immediate future.

Tottenham should be nothing but an afterthought for Arsenal right now, with the Emirates institution in a different stratosphere to their North London rivals.
