Gabriel Martinelli is the man in the news following Arsenal’s draw with Liverpool but unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.

Martinelli was introduced by Mikel Arteta to try and win the game but ended up having no impact.

Instead, the Brazilian left his own mark on the game by nearly causing a riot between the two sets of players as he took matters into his own hands when Connor Bradley went down injured.

What did you feel when you saw this unfold?

Horrible from Martinelli..

Martinelli tried to roll Bradley off the field despite the Liverpool man being obviously injured. In the end, Bradley got stretchered off, making Martinelli look even worse.

And after the game, Sky Sports’ Roy Keane did not hold back on his assessment of the incident.

Roy Keane lays into Gabriel Martinelli over Connor Bradley incident

It really was a poor look for Gabriel Martinelli, this.

It was obvious that Bradley had done something bad given he went down with nobody really around him and for Martinelli to do this was poor.

Indeed, speaking about the incident, former Man United man Roy Keane was fuming with the Brazilian, as he referenced his own incident with Alf Inge Haaland many years back.

“Well, someone stood over me once and we know about that,” Keane said.

“I didn’t like it at all. First of all, throwing the ball on him. If you look, he’s got a little knee in there as well, it’s not good. That behaviour is an absolute disgrace. He’s a good boy to roll around himself.”

What Mark Clattenburg said about Gabriel Martinelli’s incident

This is going to be a big talking point for Arsenal and Liverpool fans in the coming hours and days but it’s always interesting to get the perspective of an experienced referee.

But while some called for Martinelli to be sent off, Mark Clattenburg told Arsenal Insider that the referee got things right in the end.

“Gabriel Martinelli was correctly cautioned by Anthony Taylor for pushing Connor Bradley off the field of play whilst injured.

“The push was not violent but more a gesture and was not in the spirit of the game to do this when a player is injured. For this incident to result in a red card to Martinelli, the push needs to have force and malice and this did not so the right decision was reached,” Clattenburg commented.

Whether Martinelli will get any retrospective action, remains to be seen.
