One player who could’ve made the move to Manchester United this summer has sent the Red Devils a warning about Arsenal.

Just like Arsenal’s summer business in the transfer window, the acquisitions were very much needed – but for different reasons.
While the Gunners will be eyeing the Premier League title, their rivals will be hoping to improve on their 15th-place finish last season.
Still, the objective remains the same between the two clubs in the opening day clash at Old Trafford, with Mikel Arteta and Amorim eyeing three points.
Pedro Goncalves sends a message to Viktor Gyokeres
United have signed attacking trio Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko this summer to bolster their options in the final third.
Though Amorim has acknowledged that his new signings aren’t yet at their best, they will pose a threat to Arsenal.
That won’t worry Arteta, however, as the Gunners themselves have strengthened in the final third, welcoming Viktor Gyokeres to the squad.
In the final pre-season game, Gyokeres scored his first goal for Arsenal, which would’ve been sore viewing for Amorim.
Amorim was linked to Gyokeres this summer, but the Swede wasn’t the only player the United boss was linked to reuniting with from Sporting.
In May, the Mirror revealed United’s interest in Pedro Goncalves, who ironically has just warned the Red Devils about the opening day.
On Instagram, Goncalves commented on Gyokeres’ post in reaction to his first Arsenal goal, warning United that “The show is about to start.”
If anyone knows what Gyokeres can offer to Arsenal’s attack, it’s Goncalves, who combined with the striker for 14 goals during their two years together in Lisbon.
Gyokeres doesn’t take long to get off the mark
Another thing that both Goncalves and Amorim will be aware of is how quickly Gyokeres can make an impact in the new season.
At Coventry City, the Swede scored in his second Championship game for the Sky Blues, with his record in Portugal even more devastating.
On his Liga Portugal debut in August 2023, Gyokeres netted a brace and, last season, the 27-year-old started the campaign by scoring in six consecutive games.
By matchday six of the 2024/25 Liga Portugal, Arsenal’s new striker had a tally of 10 goals to his name, something he’ll dream about doing in the Premier League.
There’s nothing more Arsenal fans will want to see than Gyokeres scoring at Old Trafford, something Goncalves believes could happen.
