Arsenal are still waiting to reach a full agreement with Sporting CP over the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres.
There are few transfer stories as tedious as Gyokeres, who is desperate to leave Sporting to join Arsenal.
Though Arsenal are close to signing Gyokeres, the finishing touches of the deal are becoming incredibly difficult to close.
Sporting are standing firm on their conditions to let their talisman leave, which has caused the player to fall out with the Portuguese club.

Viktor Gyokeres’ stance on joining Manchester United instead of Arsenal
With a situation consisting of a player wanting to leave his club and a club wanting to buy such player, it would be presumed that a transfer would be easy to grant.
The reality couldn’t be more opposite, as still, Arsenal are waiting to get the green light from Sporting to clear the striker for a medical.
Another spanner was thrown in the works as it was reported that Manchester United want to sign Gyokeres, reports from Portugal that are understood to be false.
Speaking on the matter was Duncan Castles on The Transfers Podcast, who made it abundantly clear that the Swede has no interest in joining Man United this summer.
“There was a story from Portugal over the weekend that Manchester United had gone over the top of Arsenal’s offer, and that was close to being agreed for Gyokeres,” Castles said.
“I’m told by sources at Man Utd that is not true, and also by people close to Gyokeres that it was absolutely not true and even if it was true, Gyokeres would not go to Manchester United; he has chosen to go to Arsenal.”
Even if United had gone in to sign Gyokeres, at this stage in negotiations, the forward’s mind is made up: he only wants Arsenal.

Arsenal are due a transfer win over Man United
The player’s decision is a boost for Arsenal, but right now, all fans want to see is the 27-year-old in the red and white of the Gunners.
The situation is becoming incredibly tedious, but if there’s one celebratory topic ahead of the move, it’s that Gyokeres would snub Man United for Arsenal.
History will tell you that this is rarely the case on the transfer front, as on two separate occasions, Arsenal have lost their best player to the Red Devils.
In 2012, Robin van Persie left Arsenal for United and then, in 2018, Alexis Sanchez forced an exit to Old Trafford.
Finally, the North Londoners have a win over their Premier League rivals when it comes to transfers, with Gyokeres’ mind made up.
