There is breaking news emerging from the Premier League as Manchester United have sacked manager Ruben Amorim.
It’s the news that many expected after the Portuguese’s startling words following Man United’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
For rivals, the news comes with mixed emotions, as while it’s unfortunate to see any coach lose their job, United’s lack of cohesion under Amorim made them easier to face in comparison to previous years.
Amorim departs having won just a single point from Arsenal in the Premier League, a draw that came at Old Trafford last season.
As an Arsenal fan, sum up Ruben Amorim’s time at Man United in THREE words.
Ruben Amorim said he wouldn’t get as much time as Mikel Arteta
There was a lot of discussion regarding Amorim and Mikel Arteta, as some were able to form a comparison between the struggles the two managers faced when arriving at their clubs.
While Arteta started to turn things around with the Gunners in his second season at the club, Amorim’s time has run out, which he actually predicted.
Speaking in a press conference in March 2025, Amorim described Arteta’s work at Arsenal as an inspiration, but knew it would be difficult to replicate at Old Trafford.
“I will not have the time that Arteta has. I feel that,” Amorim predicted.
He added, “I think it’s a different club. I think in that aspect, the way Arteta dealt with that, is an inspiration for everybody. I will not have the time like Arteta had.”
10 months down the line, and Amorim’s prediction has played out, as the coach’s time at Manchester United has come to a dreary end after 14 months.
When Arsenal next face Manchester United after Ruben Amorim sacking
As the dust settles following the breaking news, one question Arsenal fans will be asking is: When do we next face United?
The answer is very soon, as the Gunners welcome United to the Emirates on matchday 23, with the fixture to be played on January 25th.

Darren Fletcher has taken the reins while the Red Devils work out who will succeed Amorim long-term, so the opportunity for a new manager bounce in N5 is there.
It makes the clash between two long-term rivals all the more thrilling, but all that will be on Arsenal’s mind is three points.
