Arsenal star Leandro Trossard produced a poor performance in Belgium’s 3-1 defeat to Ukraine in the Nations League.
Trossard has frustrated fans with his displays for the Gunners recently, and it appears he let this form bleed into his outing for his nation on Thursday night.
Romelu Lukaku gave the Red Devils the lead in the first half, before goals from Oleksiy Hutsuliak, Vladyslav Vanat and Illia Zabarbyi turned the scoreline around in Murcia.
The match marked Rudi Garcia’s first in charge of Belgium, and his team now has a mountain to climb in the second leg in Genk on Sunday.

Belgian media slam Arsenal star Leandro Trossard
Deployed in a front three with Romelu Lukaku and Charles De Ketelaere, Trossard was dreadful in Spain on Thursday.
The Arsenal winger was culpable for Ukraine’s equaliser, playing a hospital pass back towards Koni De Winter, who was unable to control the ball, allowing Hutsuliak to stride away and slot past Thibaut Courtois.
Offensively, the former Brighton man was able to offer very little on the night.
After the game, Belgium’s media outlets lamented Trossard’s performance.
Voetbalkrant gave him a 5.5/10 in their player ratings, writing: “Theoretically positioned as a left winger, in reality often in a free role, but his actions yielded nothing. Did make a lot of effort, played a creditable game. But above all: a worthless pass to Koni De Winter, which ruined the match for the Red Devils.”
Meanwhile, Walfoot wrote about the wide man: “True to himself in the national team, Leandro Trossard was only a shadow of the player he can be at Arsenal (and was at Brighton).”
Trossard’s future is uncertain at Arsenal, and based on his current form, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Mikel Arteta cash in on the player in the summer.

Leandro Trossard’s statistics vs Ukraine
Since Trossard was excellent away at PSV in the Champions League, the Belgian has disappointed every time he’s started, and Thursday night was no different.
While his pass to De Winter was the standout dire moment, the 30-year-old struggled to make any meaningful impact in the final third.
| Trossard’s Statistics vs Ukraine | |
| Minutes Played | 80 |
| Shots | 1 |
| Expected Goals | 0.04 |
| Key Passes | 2 |
| Accurate Passes | 24/32 (75%) |
| Touches | 46 |
| Touches in Opposition Box | 2 |
| Tackles | 0 |
Managing just one shot worth 0.04 expected goals, Trossard was unable to offer any goal threat, while creatively he assisted just two shots and hardly found himself in the box.
As well as all of this, the forward was loose in possession, completing just 75% of his passes, in what was ultimately a night to forget.
