Second Arsenal attacker now injured on international duty after Noni Madueke

Arsenal’s title run-in could be looking increasingly under threat as the injuries appear to be stacking up during the international break.

A number of Arsenal players such as William Saliba and Gabriel did not go on international duty but with Noni Madueke leaving Wembley in a protective leg brace last night, Gunners fans are now panicking.

Furthermore, it seems the ‘curse’ hasn’t stopped with Madueke as Arsenal also lost another player, albeit, not one impacting the squad right now.

Ethan Nwaneri could join Noni Madueke on the Arsenal sidelines

While not part of the squad at the moment due to his loan spell in Marseille, some Arsenal fans were questioning Nwaneri and a potential recall clause after seeing Madueke go down.

However, while that is unlikely, it could be pointless anyway as Nwaneri himself was also forced off injured during the England under-21 game with Andorra.

Is Max Dowman the obvious replacement for Noni Madueke at Arsenal if he is ruled out?

In what was already a bit of a nightmare display for the Young Lions – they drew 1-1 thanks to a late Rico Lewis penalty – Nwaneri was taken off injured at half-time.

As it stands, there is little knowledge around the issue. However, with another game against Moldova in midweek, it will be interesting to see if Nwaneri is included.

If not, and Madueke also misses out on the senior squad, that will be two players in a week from the Arsenal ranks.

With other players involved such as Ben White, Viktor Gyokeres and Riccardo Calafiori, Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta will be waiting with bated breath to see if they make it through okay.

Any further injuries would be devastating at this stage of the season.

Indeed, if it does happen, the age old argument of having international fixtures this late in the season will rear its head again.

Of course, this could well open the door for young Max Dowman to get a proper run in the team.

Dowman has already impressed in the odd cameo role this season and if Madueke is out, he’d be the one Mikel Arteta is likely to look to.
