The Premier League title race is starting to heat up as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all eye the top spot.

The Gunners have blown the league wide open following their 3-1 victory over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard helped seal a victory in a title “six-pointer”.

It means just two points separate first and third in the division, increasing the pressure on the teams in the mix. There have been plenty of opinions flying around on which of the three teams will win the Premier League title in the coming months.

Pundits have given their thoughts on the race ahead, so with that said, here’s a look at who is being backed to lift the trophy in May.

Jamie Carragher Premier League title prediction

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Manchester City were given the biggest boost in the title race from Arsenal‘s win over Liverpool. The former defender does believe that the Gunners do have a chance to pip them to top spot though.

He said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football: “They [Arsenal] were better in all areas [than Liverpool]. The big thing that stood out was how strong they were defensively. I never felt a goal was coming for Liverpool.

“I said after that it was a better result for [Manchester] City than Arsenal, but they have a slim chance of the title. That comes on how good they are defensively, I think they are best in the league.”

Gary Neville Premier League title prediction

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has previously predicted that Arsenal will win the Premier League. However, despite their win over Liverpool, the pundit appears to have made a slight change in his prediction.

He said on Sky Sports: “I think Arsenal, when I watch them, are a better team than Liverpool but I think Liverpool are a more ruthless team, they’re more ruthless in the final third and I think that could just cost them in the end, and that’s me having said at the start of the season I thought Arsenal would win the league.

“But there’s still so many signs today, so many examples, of Arsenal not having that killer instinct in the final part of the pitch that I think at some point in the last part of this season it’s going to hurt them.”

Ian Wright Premier League title prediction

Arsenal icon and long-standing BBC pundit Ian Wright is torn between his head and his heart when it comes to predicting the outcome of the Premier League title race. While the ex-striker wants the Gunners to win the league, it seems he can’t see beyond Man City lifting the trophy.

“I am going to go Arsenal, City, Liverpool because that’s what I want, but you can’t,” he told Premier League Productions. “It’s silly really simply because of City, their experience, the fact that they have got everyone fit. It would be silly of me to say, as much as I want it to happen, you still have to say City probably will win the league.”

Paul Merson Premier League title prediction

Another former Arsenal star in Paul Merson believes that Manchester City are in prime position to win the Premier League title this season. Writing in a column for Sky Sports, he said: “I don’t see who beats Man City to the title. They have missed probably the best player in the league Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland has also been out. That’s a worry at best for the others. City are on for the treble again.”
