Arsenal have done well to secure the futures of a number of their top stars in the last few months, and another contract announcement could be set to follow.

Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard were among the players to sign new long-term deals at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta’s project thriving.

Defender Ben White now looks set to follow, with the 25-year-old set to be rewarded for his fine form with a new contract.

White to sign new deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, talks are ongoing to extend White’s contract, and these are set to advance, with all parties seemingly keen on a deal.

“Arsenal are working to extend Ben White’s contract as he’s next one in the list after Martin Odegaard,” he tweeted.

“Club very happy with his performances and attitude. New deal talks to advance soon.”

White has appeared in every Premier League game so far this season, and opened his account for the season with an excellent header against Bournemouth yesterday.

£50m bargain?

Eyebrows were raised when Arsenal decided to spend £50m on White after just one full Premier League season with Brighton, but he quickly silenced those critics to become an important player under Mikel Arteta.

Initially performing well as a centre-back, White moved to full-back last season and has not looked back since.

Michael Owen described him as “underrated,” after an excellent campaign last season. Although he has looked tired at times this season, he was back to his best against Bournemouth, and is continuing his ascent to becoming one of the Premier League’s best defenders.

White’s ability on the ball makes him stand out, and his link-up play with Saka on the right wing has helped the team thrive. Whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu is an excellent player, he has found himself out of the team because of White’s incredible form since moving position.
