Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world right now.
The Gunners, at times, are unfairly branded as a defensive team, but Mikel Arteta’s men have scored more goals than any other side other than Liverpool this season.
Some of Arsenal’s build-up play is always a joy to watch, and that is down to the passing ability of several players in the squad.
The likes of Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka’s passing spring to mind, but the best passer in the Premier League right now is actually another surprise Arsenal player.
The shock stat that proves Myles Lewis-Skelly is the best passer in the Premier League
Myles Lewis-Skelly has won Arsenal fans’ hearts over the last few months.
Every supporter knew that he was an incredible talent along with Ethan Nwaneri, but the way he has adapted to the Premier League has been remarkable.
Lewis-Skelly is now Arsenal’s first-choice left-back, and after his performance against Manchester City, we can’t see anybody taking his place.
Positioning, ball control, strength and physicality are Lewis-Skelly’s best football attributes, but his passing doesn’t get enough credit.
According to the Daily Mail, no player in the Premier League with at least 400 minutes of action boasts a higher pass success rate than Lewis-Skelly’s 96 per cent since his first league start in December.
The 18-year-old has played 250 passes and completed 240 of them, which is a stunning record.
What’s amazing is that Lewis-Skelly is producing these numbers despite the fact that he is playing in an unnatural position – he is actually a central midfielder.

Lewis-Skelly tops Arsenal charts in four other statistics
Just 10 misplaced passes out of 250 is a stunning return for any player, let alone someone who has been playing at left-back at 18 years of age.
Lewis-Skelly is a superstar in the making, and he is already outperforming several Arsenal players in key metrics since making his first start in December.
In that period, no other Arsenal player who has played at least 400 minutes has:
- lost possession fewer times than Lewis-Skelly
- won more duels or a higher percentage of them than Lewis-Skelly
- won more fouls than Lewis-Skelly
- been dribbled past on fewer occasions than Lewis-Skelly [nobody has managed it yet]
These are outrageous records to have for an 18-year-old, and the exciting thing is that Lewis-Skelly is still about a decade away from his prime.
Sky is the limit for the Arsenal Academy graduate.
