‘That’s when they won the league’: Freddie Ljungberg claims Max Dowman’s cross is the title decider

Max Dowman’s involvement in Arsenal’s opening goal against Everton was nearly as special as his goal but Freddie Ljungberg has claimed the magnitude of the moment is just as big.

Arsenal were looking on course to drop points, handing Man City an initiative in their evening fixture.

However, Dowman changed the game from the bench and according to Ljungberg, it was the youngster’s cross for Piero Hincapie that has won Arsenal the league.

Answer honestly: Are Arsenal dropping any more points this season?

Max Dowman told he did what no other young player would do during Arsenal v Everton

As we all know, it was Max Dowman’s goal right at the death that got most of the attention.

But according to former Gunners midfielder Ljungberg, it was his pre-assist for the goal that actually mattered the most.

“I think that’s when they won the Premier League. You’re that young and you dare to go for that cross…a lot of young players, they would just pass that square and let someone else do that pass,” Ljungberg said for ViaPlay.

“It’s so special. He’s such a young guy and I think that’s when they won the Premier League, with that cross. If they would have maybe drawn that game, I think Manchester City probably would have beaten West Ham.”

With Dowman clearly being so impressive, it’s obvious Arsenal need to nurture his talent and not let things slip.

However, while improvement will be the aim for the Gunners’ coaching staff, it’s also important that they don’t coach Dowman out of that natural ability he is showing.

As we saw with both the opening goal and his own last minute goal, Dowman has the ability to glide past and beat players without even thinking about it.

That is something that needs to remain in his game. Too many times we see a young player emerge and then years later look a shadow of themselves thanks to certain restrictions.

Dowman must be allowed to flourish and his two big moments this weekend very much proved it.
