Arsenal’s abysmal record away to Liverpool continued when the Gunners faced Arne Slot’s side on matchday 36.
Mikel Arteta’s squad came from two goals behind as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Liverpool to extend their run without a win at Anfield.
The North Londoners haven’t won at the Merseyside ground since 2012, when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla scored in a 2-0 victory.
Prior to that game all those years ago, Arsenal maintained a better record than most at Anfield, going four games unbeaten at the stadium before their final victory in 13 years, and counting.
The game that sparked the three-year unbeaten run at Anfield was the historic 4-4 draw, where one player dominated the headlines.

Andrey Arshavin no longer owns his matchball from Anfield thriller
In an eight-goal thriller on Merseyside in 2009, one player took it upon himself to be responsible for 50% of the goals during the contest.
That figure was Andrey Arshavin, who netted four against Liverpool to send the away end into pandemonium.
Though the Russian didn’t get the win on the unforgettable occasion, he did get the matchball…but only momentarily.
In a fascinating 2024 interview with The Athletic, Arshavin revealed that he’s no longer in possession of the matchball for a staggering reason.
“The ball got signed by everyone, but I don’t have it,” the former Arsenal forward said before sharing that his ex-wife took the ball.
“My [former] wife took it and kept it for herself,” he said.
While year upon year, Arshavin’s remarkable quadruple at Anfield will be remembered, the now-retired former international will reminisce without his cherished matchball.
One current Arsenal player has scored four goals in a Premier League match
Arshavin did what few people have done, not only scoring four at Anfield, but by scoring four in a single Premier League match.
Amid Arsenal’s attacking struggles, it’s impossible to envisage who would be capable of the feat in the present day, but remarkably, one of Arteta’s current stars has achieved it.
Just three months before joining Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus netted four for Manchester City in a 5-1 win over Watford, writing his name into the record books.
It’s almost unbelievable that the Brazilian achieved such a clinical streak, as in North London, Jesus has scored seven goals over the previous two Premier League seasons.
Scoring four goals in a Premier League match is something quite spectacular, as Arshavin and Jesus know, having experienced the highs themselves.
