Arsenal’s fixture list contains a detail that could prove very valuable in the title race.

The 2026/27 Premier League fixtures have been announced and Arsenal will open at home against newly promoted Coventry City.

They will also close the season at home too, allowing them the opportunity to lift the trophy at the Emirates should they go on and win the title again, rather than at Selhurst Park.

But looking more closely at the fixtures, the real advantage is in the winter schedule.

Arsenal could go almost two months without leaving London

From 28 November through to 6 January, Arsenal don’t play a single away game outside the capital.

That covers eight fixtures in total: Manchester City at home, Tottenham away, Bournemouth at home, Manchester United at home, Crystal Palace away, Fulham away, Ipswich at home and Brentford at home.

Arsenal then travel to Hull on 16 January, with an FA Cup third round tie potentially extending the run even further if they are drawn at home.

Avoiding long-distance travel during the most physically demanding stretch of the season, when fixture congestion and fatigue typically take their toll, could be a huge advantage in a potential title race.

Gunners fans may remember similar runs in recent seasons, but this is actually a step up.

Over Christmas 2025, Arsenal stayed in London from 23 December to 30 December, beating Crystal Palace on penalties in the League Cup, then Brighton at home, then putting four past Aston Villa, giving them huge momentum heading into the new year.

A similar pattern occurred in December 2024, when Arsenal played all seven of their games that month in London, including a Champions League win over Monaco.

They won five of those seven, drawing 1-1 at Fulham and 0-0 at home to Everton, two results that proved costly in that season’s title race.

This time, with a title to defend and the experience of knowing how to manage it, Mikel Arteta will be determined not to make the same mistake twice.
