Ethan Nwaneri has extended his contract at Arsenal.
The teenager is one of the biggest talents in England, and he has already shown his ability at the highest level over the last 12 months.
With his old deal expiring in the summer of 2026, there were concerns over Nwaneri’s future and whether he would commit to new terms.
Those worries were put to bed on Friday, as Arsenal announced that Nwaneri had signed a new long-term contract.
The real reason why Ethan Nwaneri became an Arsenal fan as a kid
Ethan Nwaneri was born and raised in North London.
The youngster has lived close to the Emirates since he was a child, and his journey at Arsenal started when he was just five years old.
Nwaneri had spent time at Tottenham and Chelsea too, but Arsenal were the club he wanted back then, and that hasn’t changed now either.
That is because the teenager has always been an Arsenal fan, and the reason why he started supporting the Gunners is very interesting.
The Athletic have revealed that Nwaneri’s uncle took him to the Emirates Stadium for the first time when he was just four years old.
It was an FA Youth Cup game, and what caught Nwaneri’s eye then wasn’t the players – it was Gunnersaurus, the club mascot.
That was enough for Nwaneri, who has been an Arsenal fan since.
What Ethan Nwaneri used to do after training at Hale End
Hale End is one of the best youth setups in England.
The Arsenal Academy has produced so many incredible players over the years, and that wouldn’t have been possible if one generation didn’t inspire the next.
When Nwaneri was coming through at Hale End, he had the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe training with the older boys.
The Athletic claim that Nwaneri, along with Myles Lewis-Skelly, would stay back and watch them in action after his own sessions.
Now, those two teenagers play with Saka week in, week out, which is just an incredible story.
