Ethan Nwaneri could be tempted by interest in Germany, sources close to Arsenal Insider believe.
After Myles Lewis-Skelly committed his future to Arsenal with a new contract, Andrea Berta hoped Nwaneri would be next.
At present, the 18-year-old’s Arsenal contract expires in 2026, giving the Gunners an immediate challenge to tie the Hale End product down.
Chelsea have shown interest in Nwaneri as the forward continues to weigh up his options, with a stumbling block being his lack of game time towards the end of last term.

Ethan Nwaneri could be tempted by Germany transfer route
Though Nwaneri is thought to be committed to Arsenal, the 18-year-old can’t be used sporadically after showing just how ready he is to compete at the highest level.
Such could lead the youngster to have his head turned by other avenues that promise consistent game time, as Arsenal Insider’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey explained.
Speaking to us about Nwaneri’s contract situation, Bailey admitted that the Englishman could have a pathway into the German football sphere.
“Could he follow the Sancho and Gittens route to Dortmund? I think that’s a very likely avenue that he’s looking at.
“To Germany at the very least, maybe even to Dortmund. He’s out of contract next summer, and he’s in a very strong position, he really is.”
Arsenal will be desperate to tie their rising star down, particularly as Nwaneri is generating transfer interest in Germany and beyond.

English players have taken off in Germany
For English players who don’t see their immediate futures in the Premier League, there’s no greater source of inspiration than a Bundesliga move.
Over the past few years, Borussia Dortmund have taken some top English talent and developed them, the most notable being Jude Bellingham.
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Jamie Gittens | 107 | 17 | 14 |
| Jadon Sancho | 158 | 53 | 67 |
| Jude Bellingham | 132 | 24 | 25 |
Jadon Sancho left England to take off in North Rhine-Westphalia, as did Jamie Gittens and now, Jobe Bellingham hopes to do the same.
For Nwaneri, the incentive to make a similar move could be higher than ever, but let’s not forget what he’s got back at home.
Arteta isn’t afraid to field Nwaneri, as seen by the 37 senior appearances he collected over the 2024/25 campaign, so contrary to concern, his future game time isn’t a lost cause by any means.
Still, it’s a critical situation that Arsenal need to promptly resolve, as the prospect of losing the academy product as a free agent next summer is a nightmare.
