Arsenal face Manchester United in the quarter final of the FA Youth Cup at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have won the competition on seven occasions before and the likes of Jack Wilshere and Ethan Nwaneri have appeared in the tournament over the years.

Arsenal will be looking to build on their 2-1 victory over Fulham in the last-16 and Max Dowman and Jack Porter are set to start for the U18 side.

In a major boost for the Arsenal academy side, Manchester United forward Chido Obi-Martin is set to miss the game due to his first team commitments at Old Trafford.

Who played in Arsenal’s FA Youth Cup with Manchester United in 2007?

The last time these two great rivals faced off in the FA Youth Cup was back in 2007 when a two legged semi final encounter produced a nail biting result.

Arsenal won the first leg 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium in front of a crowd of 38,000 before United won the return leg 4-2 to progress into the final.

A number of players who played in that game went on to have stellar careers in the game. For Manchester United, Craig Cathcart and James Chester both played Premier League football whilst the duo of Danny Drinkwater and a certain Danny Welbeck both won the Premier League with Leicester and Manchester United respectively.

As for the young Gunners side, Kieran Gibbs was the stand out name on the night as he went on to play 180 games in England’s top flight and 228 for Arsenal’s first team.

Fran Merida was also in the side who went on to score a famous goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and remarkably Wojciech Szczesny was on the bench for both legs.

Max Dowman and Jack Porter have both been in and around the Arsenal first team set up this season. Dowman travelled to Dubai whilst Porter broke an Arsenal record as he became the youngest goalkeeper debutant against Bolton in the Carabao Cup.

Andre Harriman-Annous has trained with the first team also in recent weeks and the forward could be one to watch to provide the moment of magic for the Gunners.

Whilst there are doubts over his participation in the game, Chido Obi-Martin will be the one to watch for Man United should he feature after moving from Arsenal in the summer.

Obi-Martin scored a hat trick in the previous round but Shea Lacey is also another name to watch out for in the vistitor’s side.
